Today’s excursion was aboard “Les Bateaux Verts” to “Les Trois Caps Sauvages” just around the Gulf from St. Tropez as you head south. Here the capes of Camarat, Taillât and Lardier all the way south to Cap Negre at Le Lavandou are part of a Natural Protection Zone both on land and at sea under the Littoral Conservation Scheme. We passed Pamplonne Beach, famed by Brigitte Bardot, where there’s a statue of her on a rock at the very tip of the cape! The 7km stretch of fine sandy beaches slip into a turquoise sea where super yachts lounge at anchor and the jet set hang out! We passed the impressive lighthouse “Phare de Camarat” 130m above sea level, the 2nd highest lighthouse in France. In the “Baie de Briande” were rocks from 2,000BC. A wonderful two-hour boat trip that gave me that ‘other’ perspective of this beautiful land from the sea.
