En route to Ramatuelle from Gassin, the narrow roads wind around the wooded hillside, with steep drops! On the outskirts of Ramatuelle sits the Moulin de Paillas – an old windmill nestled in the pines where visitors picnic in the shade. The bell tower of Ramatuelle is clearly visible as you descend down into the village, where the Sunday market is in session. I buy a “Fougasse” bread baked with tomato and goats cheese and admire the selection of olives on the next stall! I choose an Italian restaurant along the Main Street, feeling at a disadvantage having to suddenly switch from French to Italian (which I’m not fluent in!) but the food is delicious and I enjoy croquettes of crab with ginger then ‘Tuffi’ pasta tubes in a creamy sauce topped with crunchy prosciutto and grated Parmesan, and a lemon gelato for dessert!
